Seminar on Science, Theology, Ethics & Ministry

This year’s Blackstone Seminar on Science, Theology, Ethics & Ministry program, “Christ, Cosmology, and Cosmic Explorations,” will take place Nov. 17-18 at VUMAC.  Not only is this sure to be a great program, but it is also their 10th anniversary celebration! The Blackstone Seminar is the starting point for growing programmatically.  It was generously endowed by Russell and Louise Fox and is the fruit of their vision—that Christians need to understand developments in science and technology in order to be relevant in their mission and ministry in the 21st century.  Russell and Louise’s vision, it turns out, was quite prophetic.  The perception that the church is anti-science is one of the leading reasons why young people are turning away from the church (see “unChristian” and “When Christians Get It Wrong”).  The conversation fostered by the Blackstone Seminar about faith-and-science has everything to do with our evangelism and discipleship.  As a VUMAC Board member, there are lots of reasons why leaders should come to this year’s Seminar—but the future of the church is THE most important one!

Jennifer Secki Shields, the Chair of the Seminar says, “I am really excited about this year’s program and thrilled with our headliners, Dr. Jennifer Wiseman and Dr. Richard Soulen.”   Please check out our their website, www.blackstoneseminar.org and email registrar(at)blackstoneseminar.org to reserve your spot for this year’s program.
